2011 Schedule of Upcoming Classes

Beginning Frisbee
Learn the essential moves you and your dog will need to play and compete in Frisbee.  Class will include motivational games to play as well as discuss the importance of proper form and safety. 

Dogs should be in good physical condition as the sport of Frisbee is very demanding on joints and muscles.  If the instructor feels your dog is unable to do any the exercises, the instructor may modify the exercises to fit your dog’s abilities.

  1. Sign up asap class size is limited to 8 dogs (6 weeks)
  2. Must have completed Basic Home Manners or the equivalent

Fridays at 7pm

Class will be taught by Jeff Hill multiple time World Championship finalist and 2009 Southern California Champion.  Jeff has over 12 years of disc doggin’ experience and 6 years of competitive disc dog experience. This is a very hands-on class to get you and your dog started off on the right paw!

Please note: Jump Start Dog Sports classes may be added, changed or reduced as necessary to meet demand. Registering for a scheduled class can not guarantee the class will be held. Some classes require a prerequisite class. The Jump Start staff is always happy to answer any questions and keep you up to date.

Introduction to Family Pet Training: Prerequisite and included in the price for all Family Pet classes. Recommended for all students new to Jump Start. Covers how dogs learn and exercises to create a partnership between you and your dog. Covers some behavior challenges.

Puppy Kindergarten: For puppies 8 weeks to 20 weeks; confidence building, owner education, playtime. Lots of discussion regarding bringing up puppies - and lots of playtime for the pups.

Puppy Prep School
: For puppies 4 to 8 months (under 4 months see Puppy Kindergarten). Build a solid relationship thru play, obstacles, balance and coordination. Learn wait, leash respect and more.

Basic Home Manners
: For dogs 5 1/2 months and older. Basic home manners including sit, down, wait, loose leash walking and come. Dogs younger than six months should seriously consider Puppy Kindergarten or Puppy Prep School before attending Basic Home Manners.

: Continue working on the basics. Work with more distractions on improving your site, down, wait, loose leash walking and come. Begin preparation for Canine Good Citizen.

: This class will help get you and your dog ready to take the CGC. Practice all 10 of the CGC test elements.

: Upon completion of Home Manners II or with instructor approval, students begin to learn the rules and what is required in AKC Obedience competition.

Novice Breed Handling: There is more to showing a dog in the breed ring than you might imagine. Learn about "stacking", "baiting", "gaiting", AND how to dress properly for the ring. Also includes how to enter a dog show. There will be a "dog show" for graduation.
