Crates come in fiberglass, wire, and fabric. There are even designer crates to match your home décor. While it is strictly a personal preference, many people have all three types. They use the fiberglass for winter, the wire for summer, and the fabric collapsible for taking to the park, beach, or friend’s house. Be sure to think through the type of environments your dog’s crate will be in. For example: do you need one with more ventilation or less, front entry or side entry, etc. Your dog should travel in a crate in the car – see Car Rides – and that crate should be fiberglass or wire for safety reasons.
