Puppies should learn at an early age to have their teeth brushed. Start by touching your puppy’s lips with one finger. Then, touch one tooth with your finger. Try to get your finger all the way to the back of her mouth. Now, add a “rubber finger brush” or a toothbrush specially made for dogs and puppies. Use only canine toothpaste – it comes in a variety of flavors. By brushing your puppy’s teeth daily – or at least weekly – you will have her on a program of healthy gums and teeth, which translates into general good health for the rest of her life.
