Puppy Development & Awareness – Car Rides (Part 2 of 4):
Did you know that a closed car generates a lot of heat? Of course you did. Remember that when you run in to the store for a quick errand that you might just be delayed. Even on a nice 80 degree day the temperature inside the car can quickly climb to 120 degrees. Rolled down windows may help some, but your dog may still suffer heatstroke. Please do NOT leave your dog in a hot car, not even for 5 minutes while you run into the store!
Reminder: When when walking your pet to and from the car (or anywhere really), keep in mind that the asphalt, concrete and stone surfaces absorb heat and can burn your puppy’s feet if they stand still on the surfaces for even a few seconds!
