You say your dog has never seen hoops? No worries!! When the handler provides clear direction, most dogs have little to no problem navigating through hoops.
The goal of the Hoopers class is to demonstrate the handler’s ability to direct their dog through a series of hoops. To do this, the handler must communicate through body language and verbal skills what the most efficient/rapid path is for the dog to navigate through the course. The use of hoops allows the dog to demonstrate the effectiveness of the handler’s communication skills without worrying about dropped bars, missed contacts or weave poles.
Dog must be at least 12 months of age, be able to stay/wait on a simulated start line, and be able to work off-leash in the presence of other dogs. Other dogs should be kenneled or contained outside the yard.
What to Bring: Crate/x-pen for dog, training treats and/or silent toys and water for dog. Check the weather you might need a sunshade to toss over kennel.
This Hoopers Drop-in session will take place on Sunday, 12/17 at 9:30 am. Karen Birdsong will be coordinating this event here at Jump Start Dog Sports! Cost is $33 per dog. Interested parties may register either in person at the Jump Start Office or online by clicking here.
