Crate Training your Puppy (continued from 10/11/17):
You will get a better night’s sleep, have cleaner carpets, and have furniture your Mother would still be proud of when you start crating your dog. This is also helpful as your dog:
- will be able to travel with you by car or plane
- will be a better patient at the vet
- will be a better client for the groomer
Be kind to your dog – crate him – he will thank you for it!
Crates come in fiberglass, wire, and fabric. There are even designer crates to match your home décor. While it is strictly a personal preference, many people have all three types. They use the fiberglass for winter, the wire for summer, and the fabric collapsible type for taking their pup to the park, beach, or a friend’s house. Be sure to think through the type of environments your dog’s crate will be in. For example: do you need one with more ventilation or less, front entry or side entry, etc. Your dog should travel in a crate in the car and that crate should be fiberglass or wire for safety reasons.
